The Dual-Life 12 Step Handling and 12 Point Inspection Process
- Environment and transportation: Have all tapes been properly handled and stored in optimal conditions and well treated in transit? Clean, in cases, and in correct shipping cartons?
- Full sort by type, brand, general age, logo.
- Care and handling inspection: Has each tape been properly handled by operators and/or equipment? i.e. Shell load marks, labeling.
- Physical outer inspection: Cartridge shell condition, screws, hubs, mechanism rattles.
- Operational physical inspection: Door latch, load point, hub location.
- Detailed sort by site and date of manufacture using manufacturer's serial numbers.
- Wear and usage: Does this tape show signs of excessive use or wear of any kind? i.e. Hub wear, door mechanism wear, leader wear.
- Degauss four passes with inversion and two 45 degree turns for full deep erasure.
- Clean with proper materials and recondition outer shell.
- Stamp with Dual-Life identification, serial number and date code.
- Seal secure and tightly shrink wrap in correct material.
- Package in all new, properly designed and labeled shipping cartons.
